Full-Text Search

The Full-Text Search offers a speed-optimized search over multiple layers.

Full-text search configuration

Property

Description

Metadata URL

Configure a reference to a metadata document (must be available via HTTP) as URL.

You may configure the unique Metadata document identifier (UUID) of a Catalog Service (CSW 2.0) here. In this case you must configure the SOAP interface of the Catalog Services in Metadata Display.

Metadata short description

Allows a short description of the metadata. Word wrap can be accomplished with a \n".

Use full-text search?

Controls if the full-text search is available in the WebOffice 10.9 R4 clients or not.

Search operator

Specifies how the search input from the user is applied.

Using the AND-operator, all given words must be matched, while using the OR-operator also returns results that only match some of the given words.

See also the setting Word Delimiters of the full-text search in the application configuration.

This setting will be overruled, if the operator AND or OR is used between two search words directly in the search input.

GUI display in

Defines whether the search control of the full-text search is located in the toolbar ("Toolbar") or in the queries ("Queries") of the user interface.

See chapter Quicksearch to get an idea about the appearance in the WebOffice core client.

Full-text search at start visible?

Specifies whether having the full-text search form at start visible ("Yes") or minimized ("No").

•See also the setting Word Delimiters of the full-text search in the application configuration.

Highlight full-text search control?

Specifies if the full-text search control gets highlighted with a glow effect ("Yes") or not ("No").

List thematic searches alphabetically?

Specifies, whether the list of thematic full-text searches is sorted alphabetically (Yes) or according to the order the queries are configured (No).

Maximum hits

Set maximum count of hits shown in result.

•If this attribute is not set, the corresponding value from Defaults will be used.

•By configuring the value 0 it is possible to deactivate suggestions for the full-text search.

Maximum expanded results

Maximum size of a result list to be displayed automatically expanded in the Result of Full-Text Search". A larger result list is displayed as a contracted node unless all results belong to the same layer.

Number of suggestions

Specifies the number of values given as suggestions for the full-text search. The suggestion elements are ordered by their search ranking (i.e. how precisely a result value fits the given search query). Elements with identical ranking are alphanumerically ordered.

CAUTION!

The list of suggestion may not contain all resulting values, but only as many as configured here.

If this attribute is not set, the corresponding value from Defaults will be used.

Max suggestion name length

The maximal length for displaying a suggestion value. Suggestion values of results with a longer object name are truncated and displayed with a trailing ..". If a layer is configured to show the layer name in the full-text search suggestion (to be configured under Search result view -> Layer name in full-text suggestion?"), the layer name will occupy a portion of the length defined here).

Max suggestion layer name length

Maximally displayed length of the layer name when it is to be displayed as a part of the full-text search suggestion. Layer names that are too long are truncated and displayed with a trailing ..".

Consider layer visibility

Specifies whether the layer visibility settings in the TOC (table of content) should be taken into account. If Yes is configured, full-text search results and suggestions will only be given for layers that are defined as visible. Possible visibility scale ranges are not being taken into account.

Start search in list of suggestions?

Specifies whether a special entry all results shall be displayed in the list of full-text search suggestions to enable displaying all search results instead of one single suggestion result. This attribute is only relevant for the Flex client.

User for ArcGIS Online Services

Defines the user who is used for ArcGIS Online services to create Full-text search indices.

Defines the user password which is used for ArcGIS Online services to create Full-text search indices.

Full-text search configuration

Full text search - Thematic Group

The search in thematic group combines the two already existing options for searching via full text search. The search in thematic group grants the user the possibility of a multiple layer search and is based on multiple thematic subindices, but the searchable layers and fields can be configured specifically.

•The prerequisite for creating a thematic group is the creation of at least two thematic full-text searches.

•Thematic groups cannot be recalculated, only the associated full text layers can be recalculated, thus the thematic groups are automatically updated.

Search operator

Specifies how the search input from the user is applied.

Using the AND-operator, all given words must be matched, while using the OR-operator also returns results that only match some of the given words.

Also note the Word Separator settings of the full-text search in the application configuration.

This setting is overridden if the AND or OR operator is used directly in the search field between two search terms.

The thematic group is displayed under the full text search tab in the WebOffice admin interface "SynAdmin". More information about the included layers and search/result fields can be found in the detailed information of the thematic group.

Full-text search status fields

The configured status fields UniqueID and ChangeDate enable WebOffice 10.9 R4 to detect changes by third party applications to indexed data and re-create affected subindices when required.

Therefore the status fields UniqueID and ChangeDate have to be configured.

UniqueID field

Field containing unique values that shall be used instead of the default OID field (typically: OBJECTID) to identify a specific record.

•The field UniqueID must contain unique values

•The values can be set manually or generated automatically (see data type GLOBALID).

•The following data types are allowed: GLOBALID, GUID, OID, SINGLE, DOUBLE, INTEGER, SMALL_INTEGER, DATE, STRING.

ChangeDate field

Field containing a timestamp (in the UTC time zone) of the last data change that indicates whether a record must be updated in the index.

•The field ChangeDate must contain a timestamp of the last data change of the corresponding record

•The value of this field must be updated (manually or automatically through a database-trigger) whenever the value of a field (except: OBJECTID) of this record is changed.

•The full-text search web application has to be installed in order to provide full-text search functionality. Make sure you have read the chapter WebOffice FTS-Index and installed the required components.

•General settings regarding the full-text search have to be configured in the Application Configuration. See chapter Full-Text Search and its subsequent chapters for detailed information.
