WebOffice 10.9 R4 supports BING Map Services. As subelements of an BING Map Service it is possible to configure

ArcGIS Server Output Service

BING Map Services use the projection WGS84 Web Mercator Auxiliary Sphere (EPSG:3857). When adding a BING Map Services to a WebOffice 10.9 R4 project, be sure that the projection of the WebOffice 10.9 R4 project fits the BING Map Services. If not, the BING Map Services will be projected on-the-fly into a dynamic map.

The ArcGIS Server Output Service will be used for output and extended server functionality (print, ePaper, extract server but also raster reprojection and editing). It is mandatory to configure a central ArcGIS Server Output Service in the map elements. This output service can be overwritten for tools/functions through a specific configuration at the according position (i.e., a specific output service in the Printing (Legacy) tool). The output service must always provide an Activated Server Object Extension.

Configure a specific output service for an BING Map Service whenever you need to reproject the BING Map Service. This way, other functionality that needs the central output service will remain unaffected.

Whenever a new BING Map Service is added to the WebOffice 10.9 R4 project configuration

configure the corresponding Reference to Map Service of Map Collection in the table of content (mandatory)

configure the corresponding reference to map service of map collection in the Map View (optionally)

BING map service configuration

Property

Description

Service name (GUI)

Service name of map service displayed in GUI.

Metadata URL

Configure a reference to a metadata document (must be available via HTTP) as URL.

icon_comment

You may configure the unique Metadata document identifier (UUID) of a Catalog Service (CSW 2.0) here. In this case you must configure the SOAP interface of the Catalog Services in Metadata Display.

Metadata short description

Provide a short description for the metadata (line breaks with \n).

Copyright

Service specific copyright text to be added to the configured project copyright if the map service contributes to the map.

icon_comment

The service specific copyright will only be displayed if the map element Copyright is configured.

Detailed information about the use of these attributes can be found in chapters Template (File Name) and WebOffice ePaper Template (File Name).

BING token

Usage of BING services is feasible with a valid customer license only and with usage of so called token. WebOffice 10.9 R4 provides the functionaltiy for using BING services. The customer is responsible to ensure a valid license for using the BING services on server side.

BING map

Chose between the three maps provided by Microsoft BING Maps:

Bing Maps Aerial

Bing Maps Roads

Bing Maps Hybrid

Most detailed scale level

The most detailed scale level specifies to which BING scale level BING maps are available (this most detailed scale level significantly depends on the displayed area).

icon_comment

The BING tiling scheme comprises 23 levels, level 1 is the most general (whole world), level 23 the most detailed with a scale of about 1:70, i.e. configuration values from 0 to 23 are valid. 0 specifies to request BING maps for any scale. If a value between 1 and 23 is configured, WebOffice 10.9 R4 will only request BING maps down to the configured most detailed scale level.

Timeout [ms]

Specifies the time [in milliseconds] to wait for the response of the map service to ensure the client always responds in a guaranteed time.

If the map service does not provide a response within this time limit, the request is canceled and the web application proceeds. In that case, the web application considers the map service as not available.

Use like dynamic service?

Specifies, whether the service is used like a dynamic map service (Yes) or not (No).

icon_comment

Can be useful for the following matters:

Ignoring the tiling schemes of a map service in order to use scales, that are not included in the tiling scheme

BING Services only expose cached behavior in the original BING coordinate system, therefore this attribute is relevant in that case only.

Transparency when updating

Specifies the transparency for the tiles of the old map image if the map tiles of the old map image get replaced by the map tiles of the new map image in the context of a map update operation.

If the map cache contains transparent tiles, the value 85 is recommended, in all other cases the default setting (0) is appropriate.

Check content?

Specifies if images are to be checked for content availability. In the case of no content, higher lod levels are displayed at a lower resolution.

User Agent Header

Defines the value of the HTTP User Agent Header for server-side requests.

Show blank tiles?

Specifies if the placeholder image (depending on the map service e.g. a crossed out photo camera, or Map data not available at this zoom level) shall be displayed if a tile is not available.

If Yes is configured, the placeholder image is displayed, in case of No (default) no tile is displayed.

An easy way to configure a BING Map Service is by using the wizard Add Service.

If your application does not have direct access to the internet, be sure to configure your proxy settings in WebOffice 10.9 R4 application configuration for proper BING Map Service functionality.
