Migration Checklist

This chapter contains a checklist, optimized for a clean and safe migration from ArcGIS Server 10.0/WebOffice10R3 to ArcGIS 10.2 for Server/WebOffice 10.2 SP3.

Important!: Follow the steps of this checklist in exactly the same order as mentioned! If you skip any of the steps or do not follow the correct order, files and/or configurations might get lost during migration!

Read carefully through the list of features that have not been migrated yet to WebOffice 10.2. Therefore, see chapter Prerequisite for details.


Assessment

 

Evaluation of required and available resources regarding both hardware and software, as well as in terms of licenses.


 

Choice of Migration Scenario

Depending on your available resources one of the three migration scenarios can be chosen. The options are listed from lowest to highest risk:

Deploy ArcGIS 10.2 for Server and WebOffice 10.2 SP3 on new machine B (while retaining old system on machine B)
Deploy ArcGIS 10.2 for Server and WebOffice 10.2 SP3 on a development machine, then migrate production machine to ArcGIS 10.2 for Server and WebOffice 10.2 SP3
Upgrade to ArcGIS 10.2 for Server and WebOffice 10.2 SP3 on machine A

 

 

Hardware and Software Requirements

Check if the software and hardware requirements that are defined for ArcGIS 10.2 for Server and WebOffice 10.2 SP3 will be met by the machine chosen for installation.

Operating System: Windows 64-Bit

 

License Requirements

Check if the necessary licenses for ArcGIS 10.2 for Server and WebOffice 10.2 SP3 are available.

Backup

 

Back up key components of your old system both for reference and restoring reasons.


 

Back up ArcGIS Server 10.0 Configuration Files and Other Associated Files/Folders

Back up key ArcGIS Server 10.0 components

Instance.log (C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS\Server10.0\Support)
Server configuration folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS\Server10.0\server)
ArcGIS web components (C:\inetpub\wwwroot\...\ArcGIS)
Cache folder (C:\arcgisserver\arcgiscache)

 

Back up complete Tomcat directory including the WebOffice 10R3 Web Application, FTS Web Application, Associated Files/Folders and UserManagement Admin Web

Full-text search web application
WebOffice plotten templates
WebOffice ePaper templates
WebOffice extract server profiles
ServiceDocuments folder
UserManagement Admin Web application

 

Export Application Profiles and Usermanagement Database in WebOffice author

export all application profiles
export the usermanagement database into an XML file

Inventory

 

Document and inventory existing ArcGIS Server 10.0/WebOffice 10R3  implementation


Uninstall

 

Uninstall the following listed software components (only necessary for migration on the same system)


 

Uninstall WebOffice 10R3 extensions

Delete all ArcGIS Server 10.0 map configuration files from <ArcGIS Server installation directory>/server/user/cfg
Stop and restart ArcGIS Server Object Manager
Uninstall WebOffice extensions 10R3 via control panel

 

Uninstall Tomcat including WebOffice 10R3 Web Applications

Uninstall Apache Tomcat including all WebOffice 10R3 web applications via control panel.


 

Uninstall Java

Uninstall Java via the control panel.


 

Uninstall WebOffice author

Uninstall WebOffice author via the control panel.


 

Uninstall AGS Utilities

Uninstall AGS Utilities via the control panel.


 

Uninstall ArcGIS Server 10

Uninstall ArcGIS Server 10.0 via the control panel.


 

Uninstall ArcGIS Desktop 10

Uninstall ArcGIS Desktop 10.0 via the control panel.


Install

 

Install the following listed software components (consider the Automatic Installation)


 

Install ArcGIS 10.2 for Desktop

Installation of ArcGIS 10.2 for Desktop via setup.


 

Install ArcGIS 10.2 for Server

Installation of ArcGIS 10.2 for Server via setup.


 

Install Java

Installation of Java SE Development Kit 7u72 (64bit), see chapter Java.


 

Install Apache Tomcat + Connector

Installation and configuration of Apache Tomcat 7.0.56 and Apache Tomcat Connector, see chapters Apache Tomcat and Install Apache Tomcat Connector.


 

Install WebOffice 10.2 SP3

Installation of WebOffice 10.2 SP3, see chapter Install WebOffice Application.


 

Install WebOffice author

Installation of WebOffice author, see chapter Install WebOffice author.


 

Install WebOffice extensions 10.2

Installation of WebOffice extensions 10.2, see chapter Install WebOffice Extensions.

When reusing WebOfficePlotTemplates directory, copy SynPlotService.mxd from the WebOffice 10.2 DVD (WebOffice10.2-DVD\Software\WebOffice extensions\WebOfficePlotTemplates\SynPlotService.mxd)
When reusing WebOfficeePaperTemplates directory, copy SynePaperService.mxd from the WebOffice 10.2 DVD (WebOffice10.2-DVD\Software\WebOffice extensions\WebOfficeePaperTemplates\SynePaperService.mxd)

 

Install Server Object Extension

Installation of Server Object Extension, see chapter Install ArcGIS for Server Object Extension for WebOffice.


 

Upgrade UserManagement Admin Web

Installation/Upgrade of UserManagement Admin Web, see chapter WebOffice usermanagement (Application Server) or Upgrade UserManagement Admin Web.


 

Adjust MXD documents in ArcGIS 10.2 for Desktop

Migrate the MXD documents into new ServiceDocuments folder (e.g. C:\arcgisserver\directories\ServiceDocuments).

Adjust data sources
analyze MXD documents
Solve error, warnings and information notifications

 

Optional:

coyp saved cache folders into the 10.2 arcgiscache directory (e.g. C:\arcgisserver\directories\arcgiscache).

 

Publish Services with ArcGIS 10.2 for Server

Share MXDs as services and adjust the service settings according to the backed up ArcGIS Server 10.0 configuration files.


Migration

 

Installation of the WebOffice 10.2 Migration Tool and Migration to WebOffice 10.2 by using the WebOffice 10.2 Migration Tool.


 

Install WebOffice 10.2 Migration Tool

Installation of the WebOffice 10.2 Migration Tool, see chapter Installation WebOffice 10.2 Migration Tool.


 

Use WebOffice 10.2 Migration Tool

Migrate to WebOffice 10.2 by using the WebOffice 10.2 Migration Tool, see chapter Use WebOffice 10.2 Migration Tool.


 

Finish Migration to WebOffice 10.2

Finish the migration to WebOffice 10.2 by

copying the migrated components into WebOffice 10.2
recovering relevant associated files into the WebOffice 10.2 application
