Esri ArcGIS Enterprise

For the administration of the map services ArcGIS Enterprise is needed.

VertiGIS recommends the Esri product versions ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap) 10.8.2 und ArcGIS Enterprise 10.9.1 (as these are Long term releases from Esri Inc. Furthermore, it is recommended to use ArcGIS Pro 2.9.x.

oArcGIS 2021 (ArcGIS Enterprise 10.9.1, ArcMap 10.8.2, ArcGIS Pro 2.9.x) is the last supported ArcGIS release of WebOffice.

oArcGIS 2022 (ArcGIS Enterprise 11.x, ArcGIS Pro 3.x) will be not be supported in future WebOffice versions.

(1) VertiGIS Printing not supported
Due to technical limitations with ArcGIS versions lower than 10.8.1, VertiGIS Printing cannot be supported.

(2) VertiGIS Printing with limited functionality
The full functionality is only guaranteed with the latest versions of both ArcGIS and WebOffice.

(3) Single host scenario not possible
When using ArcGIS 10.9, please note the special installation scenario of the WebOffice Extensions.

Current version or older version, but still supported by the manufacturer and compatible with WebOffice 10.9 SP1

Version not fully compatible with WebOffice and components

Older version; no longer supported by the manufacturer and not compatible with WebOffice 10.9 SP1

Please note the following currently applicable restrictions in the use of ArcGIS Pro based services (as opposed to ArcMap based services), which are included in the WebOffice projects:

A service published via ArcGIS Pro can only be edited as feature service but not as map service with WebOffice.

A FeatureService published via ArcGIS Pro does not offer a display of the legend in the Table of Contents (TOC) in WebOffice.

The information whether a topic group is collapsed or expanded in the map document/map service is not available via ArcGIS REST API:

oFor ArcMap based map services the information can be read via WebOffice 10.9 SP1 Server Object Extension from the MXD.

oFor ArcGIS Pro based map services this option is not offered.

The print functionality of the WebOffice extensions is of limited use with ArcGIS Pro based services. Use VertiGIS Printing instead. Selected features are no longer printed to the printout based on WebOffice extensions for ArcGIS Pro based services.

The basis of WebOffice ePaper reports must currently still be a layer of an ArcMap MXD-based map service.

The activation of the Server Object Extension on the SynOutputService currently does not work on ArcGIS Pro based services.

The WebOffice extract server function works with the WebOffice extensions also for ArcGIS Pro based services, but with certain restrictions:
Since the data export is applied directly to the configured feature classes, there is no support for specific new features of the current Esri GeoDatabase data model such as the new ArcGIS Pro based Annotations, Contingent Values, Dimension FC.

Certain WebOffice 10.9 SP1 tools (e.g Raster Info, 3D Measure etc.) work via WebOffice Server Object Extension only against ArcObjects based map services - these are those map services which are published via ArcMap. A listing of all Server Object Extension based functionalities in WebOffice 10.9 SP1 can be found in the chapter Server Object Extension (SOE) - All functionalities.

ArcGIS Pro based services cannot read out MXD based layer files (*.lyr) as they are needed for thematic mapping. Conversely, it is not possible to read ArcGIS Pro based layer files (*.lyrx) using WebOffice SOE.

WebOffice 10.9 and 10.9 SP1 supports ArcGIS Enterprise 10.9.x only to a limited extent and it must be clarified in advance whether the requirements can be met with an additional server. Please note the Special Installation Scenario.

With WebOffice 10.9 SP2 and ArcGIS Desktop 10.8.2 ArcGIS Enterprise 10.9.1 is fully supported again. The Special Installation Scenario is not applicable in this case, since all components can be installed again on a single machine (Single Server Scenario).

With WebOffice 10.9 SP2, ArcGIS versions 10.4.x and older are no longer supported.

Please also refer to the ArcGIS product life cycle of Esri for more information.

Current system requirements for ArcGIS Enterprise or ArcGIS Server can be found in the System Requirements from Esri.

For more information on the installation and configuration of Esri ArcGIS Enterprise or ArcGIS Server please go to Install ArcGIS Server on one machine or Install ArcGIS Server on multiple machines.

During installation, you will have to provide a name and password for the ArcGIS Server account. Specifying either a local account or a domain account is possible:

Using a local account:
Local account and password have to exist on each GIS server and be identical. If a specified local account does not exist it will be created.

Using a domain account:
A domain account makes it easier to access data on remote systems. If a specified domain account does not exist, the installation will return an error.
