ArcMap document Changes

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

The ArcMap document, which is the basis of an ArcGIS Server map service used in a WebOffice 10 R3 project, may change quite often.

Note: Assure to use always the same work flow for updating your ArcMap documents served by ArcGIS Server (see chapter Managing your ArcMap Document Files for details).

Note: In order to let the map document changes take effect in your WebOffice 10 R3 client, you must at least perform the actions ‘Restart ArcGIS Server Map Service’ as well as ‘Reload resources for WebOffice 10 R3 project’.

Note: In case your ArcMap document is used in several ArcGIS Server map services (e.g. once for a cached service displayed in WebOffice 10 R3 client, once for a dynamic service for providing Print functionality) you need to perform the action ‘Restart ArcGIS Server Map Service’ for each map service again.

Note: In case your ArcMap document is served as an ArcGIS Server map service which gets used in several WebOffice 10 R3 projects, it is easier to perform the ‘Reload WebOffice 10 R3 web application’ action, because all WebOffice 10 R3 projects get reinitialized then automatically.

Typical changes of an ArcMap document are

Layer symbology,

Layer selection symbology,

Layer visibility scale range,

Layer order or Layer name changes,

Dataframe changes (name, order, position),

Change of order and/or position of elements of the Table of content,

Dataframe projection,

Field aliases, visibilities, etc.

Etc.
