In order to implement WebOffice 10.9 R3 projects the following requirements and basics have to be complied:

Geodata Formats

WebOffice 10.9 R3 supports all data formats supported by Esri base products ArcGIS Server Basic and ArcGIS Server Standard:

File based data (Shape, File Geodatabase)

Enterprise Geodatabase (ArcGIS Server Basic Workgroup and Enterprise)

Raster data formats (TIFF, JPG, MrSID, etc.) supported by Esri base products

Database Formats

WebOffice 10.9 R3 (Query Center) is able to directly access tabular data (search, display results, join, relate) stored in relational database systems (RDBMS). Only prerequisite for accessing tabular data using QueryCenter functionality is the availability of a JDBC database driver for the database system.

GIS Map Documents

ArcGIS Server services are the basis for WebOffice 10.9 R3 projects. ArcGIS Server services are based on service definitions which again are created out of ArcMap documents (MXD). Therefore the basis for every WebOffice 10.9 R3 project is an ArcMap document.

WebOffice 10.9 R3 tries to use as much information as possible stored in the map documents which makes it important to prepare MXDs in the right way.

GIS Web Services

ArcGIS Server services are the basis for WebOffice 10.9 R3 projects. Before creating a WebOffice 10.9 R3 project, an ArcGIS Server service must exist.

ArcGIS Server services get published in ArcMap and administered using ArcGIS Server Manager.

See chapter Use ArcGIS Server Manager as Administrative Tool for details.

With ArcGIS Server it is possible to provide services using the common web service technologies SOAP and REST. WebOffice 10.9 R3 accesses services through the REST URL no matter whether they are local or internet services.

There are two types of ArcGIS Server services concerning the way they deliver map images. Both types of map services are fully supported by WebOffice 10.9 R3:

dynamic services: map images get rendered dynamically.

cached services: cached maps are very fast concerning map delivery because rendering of the map and map delivery are decoupled.

See chapter Use Caches Whenever It Is Possible for details regarding cached services.

WebOffice 10.9 R3 Project Configuration

The final step for running a WebOffice 10.9 R3 project is creating a WebOffice 10.9 R3 project configuration. Project configurations are located in the projects folder of the WebOffice 10.9 R3 web application.
