Add Data
The tool Add Data enables users to upload local daata and integrate it into their WebOffice 10.9 R2 SP1 project. The loaded data is only available during this one WebOffice 10.9 R2 SP1 session, i.e. if the user ends the WebOffice 10.9 R2 SP1 session and starts a new session, the uploaded geodata will no longer be available to him.
The tool can be used to improve data collection and entry processes by post processing of GPS data: Users collect data with their GPS devices in the field. Back in the office the user is uploading the GPS ASCII files from the GPS device to the WebOffice 10.9 R2 SP1 application. The uploaded data can now be used, for instance, as snap layer for digitizing line or polygon objects based on the GPS coordinates. To query, buffer, and make spatial selections is possible with the uploaded GPS data as well.
Consider also to configure Styles to manage the symbology of uploaded layers.
In addition, the display of attribute tables can be controlled via the function Provide search in TOC?.
For more details see chapter Add Data > Show Complete Attribute Table. |
It is also possible to create several Projections to support the upload of geodata without a defined reference system. In this way, the user can select a projection from a list of predefined projections.
Upload local geodata configuration
Property |
Description |
||
---|---|---|---|
Quota [kb] |
Maximum size of file upload. |
||
Split DWG upload to Featurelayers? |
Determines whether a DWG is uploaded as a single layer or divided into individual feature layers during upload. If the DWG is split to feature layers when uploading, these layers can be used for snapping or Copy from. |
||
Provide search in TOC? |
Defines the display of the attribute tables (full search) in the respective project. •true > Display of attribute tables available •false > Display of attribute tables not available |
||
URL sharing/kml |
URL to the sharing/kml service on the local Portal for ArcGIS (optional, FallBack = ArcGIS Online)
|
||
Use Tool? |
Specify whether this tool is available in the WebOffice 10.9 R2 SP1 client (true) or not (false). |
Add Data configuration
The user needs to provide the geodata to be uploaded as a ZIP file named exactly like the geodata file which contains:
•the geodata file(s)
•Coordinate system information (e.g .prj file)
•Symbology information (e.g .lyr file)
•world file (raster data only)
If, for instance, the geodata file is named parking.shp (along with the other files necessary for an Esri shape file) the zip archive must be named parking.zip. |
The file format .lpk, .dwg and .gpx can also be used natively (without zipping).
Consider also to configure Styles to manage the symbology of uploaded layers.
Please note that WebOffice 10.9 R2 SP1 does not support all symbols available in ArcMap. The supported symbols are listed in the chapter Simple Thematic Mapping. |
Furthermore, it is possible to define several Projections in order to support the upload of geodata without a defined reference systems. This way, the user can select a projection out of the list of predefined projections.
If the data to be uploaded has a different coordinate system than the main map service, a geotransformation has to be stored in the SynOutputService because the data is not reprojected during the upload itself. It is only referenced with the correct projection. To provide the geotransformation, open the map document SynOutputService.mxd, drag data with the coordinate system to be used for uploading local geodata in the Table of Contents of the map document, and open the properties of the data frame. Then click the button Transformation (tab Coordinate System) and select the appropriate geotransformation. Confirm the settings, remove the added data from SynOutputService.mxd and publish the map document. |
ATTENTION! For validating the dynamic raster workspace and for the tool Add Data itself, an access to the ArcGIS Server administration page is necessary. If a Web Adapter is connected upstream, an Internal Server URL must be configured in the Application Configuration. |
•In case that the uploaded data have another projection than the SynOutputService (WebMercator) and the main map service, one geotransformation is not useful, because two transformations have to be done. In such a case configure another SynOutputService (e.g. SynOutputService2) with the projection of the main map service. This further SynOutputService has to be configured explicitly as ArcGIS Server Output Service for the upload tool. Please ensure to define the dynamic workspaces to this other SynOutputService. •To provide Add Data make sure to follow all the steps described in the chapter Publish SynOutputService and Add Dynamic Workspaces to SynOutputService with special attention to the dynamic workspaces. |
