Note: To be able to edit existing features in terms of changing the geometry or attributes you need to configure edit tools and layers in the WebOffice 10.9 R4 project.

After the selection of the desired feature to be edited, the edit feature button appears in the title bar of the object details in tablet mode or in the bottom in phone mode.

After activating the tool you got the chance to edit or to delete the object.

Edit feature (Point)

By activating the tool a new dialog appears giving the choice either to delete the feature completely or to edit it. When selecting the edit feature operation the same new toolbar in the center of the map appears like with the creation of a new feature. Move the hair cross to the desired new position and place the feature to be edited by pressing the Add Vertex button and apply with Finish Object button. In the following dialog (Tablets and pads above the lower segment of the toolbar / smartphones in a new tab) attributes may be edited. Finish the editing operation by pressing the Save button.

Note: Geometry editing in the WebOffice mobile client is only supported for point feature classes (no MultiPoint Features).

In order to change the geometry of an existing feature, there are two options to reach the target area depending on the distance between the old and the new position of the feature:

The new position is not far from the original location:
In most of the cases the location of the object to be edited is not far from the original position. Therefore, it is easy to navigate to the new position using the standard navigate operations pan and zoom.

The new position is very far from the original location:
In some cases the new location is too far away to reach it only by panning and zooming. However, it is possible to jump to a location far away from the original one by considering the following steps:

1.Go to the target area of the feature to be edited (e.g. using an address query).

2.Then go to the original position of the feature to be edited (e.g. using an address query).

3.If not directly selected through searching, select the desired feature and activate the edit feature tool.

4.Use the Previous extent button to jump back to the target area.

5.Place feature on the new position and save changes.

Note: In order to edit features within the mobile client, a defined edit action Edit is required in the project configuration. Detailed information in chapter List of available edit actions.

In order to edit attributes open the list of edit fields where different kinds of attribute types are shown depending on the project configuration. It is possible to edit value lists, text input and configured file upload. The latter can be performed after the editing process or, if nothing is to be edited, by pressing the button Upload Files Only. A new form offers the possibility to upload a file.

Note: For more information about the configuration of restricted edit fields (read-only), please have a look at Editability.

Note: For detailed information regarding the configuration of file uploads, please see chapter File Upload Properties.

Note: If using the WebOffice mobile client with an iOS device, the file upload will only be available from version iOS 6 on. In earlier iOS versions a file upload was not supported due to restrictions in the operating system.

Edit feature (Polyline and Polygon)

By activating the tool a new dialog appears giving the choice either to delete the feature completely or to edit it. When selecting the edit feature operation, a new toolbar will appear on the last vertex of the polygon or polyline feature offering the following options.

Option B provides again three different ways to edit a selected vertex

1. Move the selected Vertex
After having a vertex selected, move the hair cross to the desired new position. Click the Add Vertex button to move the selected vertex to this position.

2. Insert a new vertex before/after the selected vertex
After having a vertex selected, use the Insert Before/After button to add a new vertex automatically in the center of the connecting line between two vertices. Consider the following figure to determine the previous and the next vertex. From the currently selected vertex's perspective, the previous vertex is the one that is connected by the dashed drawing line, whereas the next vertex is on the other side.

3. Delete the selected vertex
After having a vertex selected, click the Delete Vertex button to remove the vertex.

If the vertex has been selected unintentionally, click the Deselect Selected Vertex button to get back to the standard editing context menu.

Note: The snapping function has no influence on the selection of vertices. For selecting a vertex, a scale independent pixel tolerance is taken into consideration.

Note: When editing polyline features, it is not possible to use the Insert Before button when editing the first vertex of a line.

Note: When editing polyline features, it is not possible to use the Insert After button when editing the last vertex of a line.

Delete feature

Deleting an existing feature is also accomplished by using the edit feature tool. Select the feature to be deleted, activate the edit feature tool and choose Delete feature, apply with Delete. With the mobile client you can only delete single features.

Note: An activated UserManagement provides the option to determine whether to physically or logically delete objects. In no UserManagement is used objects will always be deleted physically. Detailed information in chapter Editing Configuration for UserManagement.
