Important note:
As of WebOffice 10.8 SP2, ArcGIS versions 10.2.x as well as 10.3.x are no longer fully supported.
Please also refer to the ArcGIS product life cycle of Esri for more information.
Caution:
Please note the following currently valid restrictions in the use of ArcGIS Pro based services, which are included in the WebOffice clients:
•The information whether a topic group in the map document/map service is collapsed or expanded is not available via ArcGIS REST API:
oFor ArcMap based map services the information can be read from the MXD via WebOffice 10.8 SP2 Server Object Extension.
oFor ArcGIS Pro based map services this option is not available.
•the print functionality of the WebOffice extensions is limited for ArcGIS Pro based services. Use the new VertiGIS Utilities Printing Tools instead.
•the basis of WebOffice ePaper Reports must currently still be a layer of an ArcMap MXD based map service.
•the activation of Server Object Extension on the SynoutputService currently does not work on ArcGIS Pro based services.
•the WebOffice extract server function works with the WebOffice extensions also on ArcGIS Pro based services, but with certain restrictions:
Since the data export is applied directly to the configured Feature Classes, there is no support for specific new features of the current ESRI GeoDatabase data model such as the new ArcGIS Pro based Annotations, Contingent Values, Dimension FC.
•Certain WebOffice 10.8 SP2 tools (e.g. Raster Info, 3D measurement, etc.) work via WebOffice Server Object Extension only against ArcObjects based map services - these are those map services which are published via ArcMap. A list of all Server Object Extension based functionalities in WebOffice 10.8 SP2 can be found in the chapter Server Object Extension (SOE) - Functionalities.
•ArcGIS Pro based services cannot read out MXD based layer files (*.lyr) as they are needed for thematic mapping. Vice versa it is not possible to read ArcGIS Pro based layer files (*.lyrx) using WebOffice SOE.
The subsequent chapters provide information about the server-side requirements for a successful WebOffice 10.8 SP2 installation.
•Operating System (OS) has to be a Microsoft Windows platform since WebOffice 10.8 SP2 is based on Esri ArcGIS Server which is supported for Windows.
•For managing your data we recommend the usage of a RDBMS, further notes in Database (optional).
•ArcGIS Server provides the services which will be used by WebOffice 10.8 SP2.
•ArcGIS Desktop (ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap) needs to be installed on the administrative computer to create services.
•ArcSDE (optional) has to be used whenever web editing is required.
•Java will be used on the web application server. Java Development Kit 11 (64bit) is certified for WebOffice 10.8 SP2 and will be installed prior to the WebOffice 10.8 SP2 installation on the web application server (Default path: C:\Program Files\Java).
•Apache Tomcat is recommended and certified as the servlet engine for WebOffice 10.8 SP2 . Therefore, prior to the installation of WebOffice 10.8 SP2, the certified version Apache Tomcat 9.0.46 will be installed by VertiGIS on the web application server (recommended default path: C:\Tomcat).
Note:
In order to meet the memory requirements of WebOffice 10.8 SP2 the default memory settings (Maximum Memory Pool) of the JVM used by Apache Tomcat have to be increased. This is not a WebOffice 10.8 SP2 specific setting but applies to all Java web applications in general.
•Apache Tomcat Connector (Optional) will be installed to use IIS as web server for WebOffice 10.8 SP2 projects. This way, WebOffice 10.8 SP2 projects can be accessed via port 80 instead of the Apache Tomcat default port (8080). (default path: C:\Tomcat_Connector).
•Microsoft .NET Framework is required on the administrative computer where WebOffice author standalone will be installed.
•Microsoft .NET Framework and Internet Information Services (IIS) with ASP.NET package are required on the server where UserManagement Admin Web will be installed.
