Edit Attributes

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

Besides editing the geometry of features it is important to give attributive information about what is being edited. The WebOffice flex client allows many different types of attributive editing which are explained in the following chapter. Attributive information can be entered into the edit tool form while using the edit actions Create or Edit. If you are creating a new object, attribute fields will be immediately available. In case you are editing an existing object you have to select the object first and edit attributes afterwards.

Input Field Types available in the WebOffice flex client

The WebOffice flex client allows the user to enter attributive information of the following types:

text input

multiline text input

value list

checkbox

date field

slider

file name

file path

file upload

Note: If a text is entered in a value list, the list is filtered according to the input.

Mandatory Attribute Fields

An attribute field which is marked with a html_Editing_Attributes2 is Mandatory. Therefore, the editing operation cannot be submitted as long as no value has been entered into this field.

Restricted Attribute Fields (read-only)

It is also possible to configure the edit ability of an attribute field. This parameter defines whether an attribute field of an editable object is read-only or not. Thus it is ensured, that an appropriate attribute field of an object can not be edited during an edit action.

Note: For more information about the configuration of restricted edit fields (read-only), please have a look at Editability.

Note: In the flex client the editing process takes place in two stages. In a first step, the attribute fields are filled and the content of mandatory fields is checked. In a second step, the files are uploaded (see figure above).

Date Fields

Whenever a field of type "date" is configured, the WebOffice flex client provides a calendar function in the edit tool form. The entry will use the Date Format defined in the Common Settings.

File Upload, File Path, File Name

Attribute fields of these input field types offer the flexjs_editing_attributes_3a button to open a file dialog and browse to a file in order to

upload the file the server (therefore the flexjs_editing_attributes_3c button also needs to be clicked)

upload the file path

upload the file name

Use the flexjs_editing_attributes_3b button to remove any entry from the attribute field.

Note: You can also drag and drop the file from your computer into the field.

Slider

Using the input type Slider is extremely useful when working with rotation fields that have to be edited.

Hierarchical Editing

The WebOffice flex client supports Hierarchical Levels for editing fields, usually in combination with subtypes/domains defined in ArcMap. This way, the user has to select a value for the field with the top hierarchical level (i.e. the topmost field and mandatory). The field with second hierarchical level will only provide the values which are valid for the topmost hierarchical field.

Note: If hierarchical editing is used, values have to be set for the property "Hierarchical level" in WebOffice author standalone (see Hierarchical level).

GPS Attributes

The WebOffice flex client supports spatial position information retrieval and storage via an editing session.

The location determination required for this needs the use of HTTPS.

In order to enable the automatic filling in of the coordinates, the point which was calculated by the location determination must be hit during editing. To hit this point it is recommended to activate snaping.

Thus the GPS fields are automatically filled with the current coordinates of the location. Depending on the configuration the form may look like this.

The automatically filled fields are greyed out and cannot be edited.

Note: For further information on location determination, please refer to the chapter Geolocation.

Note: For further information on how to configure the GPS attribute assignment in the WebOffice author standalone see chapter GPS Attributes.

Note: For more information on how to configure Edit fields, refer to the chapter Editing Field of the WebOffice author standalone.

Integrated Editing Application

The WebOffice flex client supports the use of an integrated editing application, which is designed to edit the attribute data and relationships of an object created or edited with WebOffice 10.8 SP2. The configured editing application appears directly after an editing operation. This means that after creating, editing or deleting an object, a new browser window with the contents of the external editing application will be visible.

In the same way, the integrated editing application can also be opened in the final window of the editing action. Next to the "Close" button, there is a separate button with the configured name of the application.
