This feature is very useful if you need to change an ArcMap document and already have an existing WebOffice 10.9 R4 project based on an older version of the ArcMap document. By using Layer mapping, you can ensure error-free and complete layer and table referencing for your WebOffice 10.9 R4 project.

 

The Layer mapping works automatically or manually, depending on the MXD, map service and the WebOffice 10.9 R4 project configuration:

•Automatic Layer mapping: With automatic Layer mapping, the currently open MXD is validated against the currently open WebOffice 10.9 R4 project configuration. If some layer or table names are changed in ArcMap, a notification appears immediately to adjust the layer or table name in the WebOffice 10.9 R4 project configuration.

•Manual Layer mapping: The Layer mapping must always be performed manually if layers, group layers or tables of a map service have been changed but the corresponding MXD document is not open. Start the Layer mapping manually and select the map service to be checked.

Map new Layer / Table

As soon as a new layer or a new table has been added to the ArcMap document, the WebOffice author standalone automatically recognizes this as soon as the corresponding WebOffice 10.9 R4 project configuration is opened. These new layers/tables are marked with a hint sign. If the layer or table has been added to the map service, but the MXD is not open when WebOffice author standalone is started, the hint symbols will only appear if the topic validation is performed manually. To do this, select the map service to be checked.

 

The WebOffice author standalone suggests that a new layer or table should be created in the project with the same name as in the ArcMap document. Alternatively, the name can also be changed manually. To map the new layer or the new table to your WebOffice 10.9 R4 project configuration, you must activate the corresponding topic in the Assign column. If several layers or tables are to be mapped, click on the Map all layers of this service button.

 

 

 

Map renamed Layers / Tables

If the name of a layer or a table in the ArcMap document has changed, two things are displayed when the topic is assigned (see figure below). First, WebOffice author standalone suggests to create a new layer or a new table with the changed name in the WebOffice 10.9 R4 project configuration. On the other hand, the original layer or table name is displayed to which no layer or table can be maped in ArcMap. In both cases the check mark in the column Map is missing.

 

 

To now map the ArcMap layer or the table with the changed name to the existing layer in the WebOffice 10.9 R4 project (to keep layer searches, filter definitions, etc. already configured on the layer), the row with the changed ArcMap layer or the changed table is relevant. In the column Project configuration select the appropriate WebOffice 10.9 R4 Layer and check the box in the column Map. Leave the entry without a suitable ArcMap topic or table assignment (DO NOT tick the Delete all not matching layers check box) and press Ok.

 

Delete a layer or table

If a layer or a table in the ArcMap document has been removed and if all existing WebOffice 10.9 R4 configurations for this layer or these tables are not to be retained, then all references can be deleted by checkingDelete all not matching layers and confirming this by clicking the Ok button.
