Activation or Deactivation of the Forwarding Rule in IIS

The following chapter describes how to activate or deactivate a forwarding rule in IIS.

Activate URL rewrite rules (e.g. start of maintenance window)

In order to activate a forwarding rule (e.g. maintenance window start), the respective rule in the corresponding node in the IIS to the URL Rewrite Module must be navigated to. More information can be found in the chapter Configuration of Forwarding Rules with URL Rewrite. Within the module, the rules are displayed which are active (black background) or deactivated (gray background).

 

In the right pane, the rule can be activated with the button Enable Rule to activate the rule.

After activating the rule, it may be necessary to restart IIS.

Please note, if the server variables are not configured, the request will be stored in the browser cache, thus the browser cache may need to be cleared. More information can be found in the chapter Configuration of Forwarding Rules with URL Rewrite.

Deactivate URL rewrite forwarding rules (e.g. end of maintenance window)

In this step you proceed in exactly the same way and call the URL Rewrite Module again. Active rules can be deactivated via the button Disable Rule . However, the configuration of the rule is generally preserved.
