AGS 10.9 - Activate SOE on a Map Service

icon_comment

WebOffice 10.9 supports ArcGIS 10.9 only in a limited way! Customers have to clarify in advance if the requirements, such as an additional server, can be met!

This chapter describes the configuration steps required when the WebOffice SynOutputService is published on a ArcGIS Server version 10.9, and the WebOffice extensions are installed on a separate server with ArcGIS Desktop or ArcGIS Engine 10.8.1.

1. Access permissions

VertiGIS recommends that the WebOffice Extensions Service runs under a domain user who has access to both the machine running ArcGIS Server 10.9 and the one on which the WebOffice extensions are installed.

This user must have full access to the following directory, which by default is located on the ArcGIS Server machine:

C:\arcgisserver\directories

2. Output Directory on the ArcGIS Server

The Output Directory for the SynOutputService on the ArcGIS Server must reference a network share that can be accessed from both the ArcGIS Server server and the WebOffice extensions server.

This can first be added in ArcGIS Server Manager under Site if it does not already exist:

wo_Activate_SOE_on_a_Map_Service_AGS_109_9

Do not use administrative shares here, such as \\%computername%\c$\arcgisserver\directories\arcgisoutput, but be sure to use a network share, such as \\%computername%\arcgisoutput, as this may cause problems on the ArcGIS Server.

Then navigate to SynOutputService, under the point Parameter select the just created output directory:

3. Adapt SOE Properties

Directly at the SynOutputService the IP of the server where the WebOffice extensions are installed has to be entered under the WebOffice Server Object Extension function for the Output Component IP parameter. The Output Component Port can be left at the default value 12000. This port must be released on the ArcGIS Server computer as well as on the WebOffice extensions computer via the firewall.

The path under the Handler Configuration parameter does not have to be accessible from the WebOffice extensions machine, only from the ArcGIS Server machine.

4. Adapt layout path to the WebOffice plot templates

The path to the WebOffice plot templates must be adjusted in this scenario. By default this references to:

C:\arcgisserver\directories\WebOfficePlotTemplates

Since the path must also be accessed from the WebOffice Extensions Service, it is necessary to include the directory containing the WebOffice plot templates as a network path that is accessible from the WebOffice extensions machine, and from the user under which the WebOffice Extensions Service is running.

5. Adapt layout path to WebOffice ePaper templates

The path to the WebOffice ePaper templates must be customized in this scenario. By default this references to

C:\arcgisserver\directories\WebOfficeePaperTemplates

Since this path must also be accessed from the WebOffice Extensions Service, it is necessary to include the directory containing the WebOffice ePaper templates as a network path that is accessible from the WebOffice extensions machine, and from the user under which the WebOffice Extensions Service is running.

6. Adapt paths to theWebOffice extract server directories

The paths of the WebOffice export extension parameters Configuration, Export (physical), Archive (opt.) must be adapted in this scenario.

Since these paths must also be accessed by the WebOffice Extensions Service, it is necessary to reference the WebOffice extract server directories that have the following default values:

C:\arcgisserver\directories\WebOfficeExport\Configuration

C:\arcgisserver\directories\WebOfficeExport\Export

C:\arcgisserver\directories\WebOfficeExport\Archive

as network paths which are accessible from the WebOffice extensions machine, and from the user under which the WebOffice Extensions Service runs

7. Adapt WebOffice extract server Configuration

To ensure the functionality of WebOffice extract server, the following path must be specified in the configuration files, which can be found by default on the ArcGIS Server machine:

C:\arcgisserver\directories\WebOfficeExport\Configuration

again, the paths to the data sources must be entered in such a way that they can also be accessed from the WebOffice Extensions Service. This does not work with a local path like:

C:\arcgisserver\directories\ServiceDocuments\SampleProject\Data\SampleProject.gdb

or

C:\arcgisserver\directories\ServiceDocuments\SampleProject\Data\SampleProject.sde

but must be included via a network path, such as:

\\W-SUP-WOARC109\directories\ServiceDocuments\SampleProject\Data\SampleProject.gdb

or

\\W-SUP-WOARC109\directories\ServiceDocuments\SampleProject\Data\SampleProject.sde

In case of export configuration for CAD export this must be done additionally in the configuration file *.xml under the parameter DefaultDir.

8. Adapt the file SynerGIS.WebOffice.Extensions.Configuration.xml

On the server where the WebOffice extensions are installed, the ServiceIPAddress parameter must be adjusted.
